Superstition beliefs that I'm familiar with.

Some of the superstition beliefs I am familiar with include that when a black cat walks across your path, it will bring you bad luck for the day.

Another superstition is that when one breaks a mirror, he or she would have bad luck for the next 7 years.

A third superstition is that one will suffer from bad luck from walking under a ladder. Some people also believe that the number '13' is an unlucky number.

I think that some people are superstitious as they are overly cautious people who do not want to meet with any mishaps. Some gain this caution from past experiences while others become superstitious after hearing what happened to other people when they did something and had bad luck.I think that it is good to a small extent that people are superstitious. Superstition keeps people on their toes and therefore they are actually more unlikely to meet with any mishaps, which is good for them. Some superstitions beliefs actually have a slight truth to them. For example, one might suffer cuts after breaking a mirror, which is a form of bad luck. However it certainly is not good to be over superstitious, to the point of paranoia, being suspicious of everything around you. This will cause others to think that you are mentally challenged and hence will not speak to you.

Notting Hill

This was a third time that I watch this movie. Again... It was perfect and touching to me. Watching two players who are Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant that have comfortable and beautiful smile was great pleasure to me.

'What if world-famous actor burst into my sight? And what if that man shows interest in me? How do I do?’ This movie “Notting Hill” rightly is the movie which makes me to ask these questions.

A heroin is a world-famous popular movie actress, ‘Anna Scott’ in America, and a hero is a travel technical book master, ‘William Tacker’ who lived in ‘Notting hill’ of London. Two people come across and fall in love. It takes quite long time until they get along well. However, it goes different way as how the difficulties deal with well. The two people also overcome all difficulties and finally enjoy happiness.

I still remember one scene which made Julia Roberts to be seen beautiful. That is almost the last scene in the movie. Anna Scott and William Tacker emerge with celebrating, applauding and shinning flashes from many people. As the greatest actress and as a woman who loves the ordinary working man, I cannot forget her happy smiling face as if she gets all over the world.

"I'm just a girl.
standing in front of a boy.
asking him to love her."

"나도 그저 한 사람 앞에 서서 사랑을
바라는 그런 여자일 뿐이라구요."

I bought a new cellphone!

*----New cellular phone----*

My cellular phone broke, so I had to buy another one.
I wanted to get one with a built-in camera, but the lady said "it’s very popular and there would be a five week wait."

Oh, forget it!!

I can't go without one that long!

So I got an ordinary one, and I transferred all my friends’ numbers, e-mail addresses, etc. from my old cell phone to my new one. It took me half a day to completely move the data.
I was amazed that I had 200 names and numbers stored.
Some of them are not so important to me any more, so I deleted them from the list.

Oh, my thumb ache!!!

Exam is very near but I'm doing these things...hm..

Anyway...

Before...^ㅡㅡㅡ^

La dolce vita(달콤한 인생)

Disciple : "스승님, 저것은 나뭇가지가 움직이는 겁니까, 바람이 움직이는 겁니까?"
Master : "무릇, 움직이는 것은 나뭇가지도 아니고 바람도 아니며 네 마음일 뿐이다."

Mr. Kang : I'll try to sort things out with Chairman Baek. Anyhow the real reason I asked you to come down here, I have to leave for shanghai for a three-day business trip and I have a little favor to ask before I leave. The thing is...Pore me a alcohol.

Sun Woo : Oh, Yes, Sir. Sorry.

Mr. Kang : The truth is, I have a young girlfriend.

Sun Woo : ......

Mr. Kang : The one that I really care about is she is not like me. She is a special kind of person.

Sun Woo : .....

Mr. Kang : What, am I boring you?

Sun Woo : Uh, congraulation, Sir.

Mr. Kang : Never mind "congratulations." The problem is, I think she is seeing someone else. Some young guy is hanging around her. It's driving me crazy, and I couldn't tell anyone else. You know you're the only one I can really talk to about this. No one else know that I am worried about such a thing. So I want you to watch over her just for three days.

Sun Woo : Watch over her?

What is love?

It is one of the most difficult questions for the mankind. Centuries have passed by, relationships have bloomed and so has love. But no one can give the proper definition of love. To some ?Love is friendship set on fire? for others ?Maybe love is like luck. You have to go all the way to find it?. No matter how you define it or feel it, love is the eternal truth in the history of mankind. Love is patient, love is kind. It has no envy, nor it boasts itself and it is never proud. It rejoices over the evil and is the truth seeker. Love protects; preserves and hopes for the positive aspect of life. Always stand steadfast in love, not fall into it. It is like the dream of your matter of affection coming true. Love can occur between two or more individuals. It bonds them and connects them in a unified link of trust, intimacy and interdependence. It enhances the relationship and comforts the soul. Love should be experienced and not just felt. The depth of love can not be measured. Look at the relationship between a mother and a child. The mother loves the child unconditionally and it can not be measured at all. A different dimension can be attained between any relationships with the magic of love. Love can be created. You just need to focus on the goodness of the other person. If this can be done easily, then you can also love easily. And remember we all have some positive aspect in us, no matter how bad our deeds maybe.

Arsenal Football Club

Club History

From Foundation to the First World WarArsenal Football Club began life when a group of workers at the Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory decided to form a football team in late 1886. The Club played under the name of Dial Square. Their first match was a 6-0 victory over Eastern Wanderers, on December 11, 1886. Soon after, the name Royal Arsenal was adopted and the Club continued playing in friendlies and local cup competitions for the next few years.
In 1891 the Club turned professional and changed its name to Woolwich Arsenal, finally joining the Football League in 1893. The Gunners moved to Highbury in 1913, as a Second Division side. Following the First World War Arsenal were voted into the newly expanded First Division, where they have remained ever since.
Chapman and the Glorious ThirtiesHerbert Chapman took over at Arsenal in 1925, and in 1930 he guided the Gunners to their first ever trophy — beating Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup Final. The following season Arsenal were champions for the first time. Between 1933 and 1935 the Club won a hattrick of league titles (which has only been achieved by four teams in the top flight). Sadly Chapman died in the middle of the run, by which time he had reached legend status.
George Allison took over and the dominance continued for the rest of the decade, winning one more FA Cup (1936) and another title (1938). During this time Arsenal had some of the game’s greatest players on its books: Alex James, Ted Drake, Cliff Bastin, David Jack, Eddie Hapgood and George Male were just some of the names in what was one of the greatest sides ever to play in the Football League.
Post-War to the First DoubleThe Second World War stopped Arsenal in their tracks but Tom Whittaker became manager and more success followed. Arsenal were Champions in 1947/48 and 1952/53; FA Cup winners in 1950 and runners-up in 1952. The ‘60s provided little in the way of silverware at Highbury, with two losing appearances in the League Cup Final in 1968 and 1969 being the closest thing to success. Bertie Mee had taken over in the mid-Sixties and Arsenal lifted their first ever European trophy in 1969/70, beating Anderlecht 4-3 over the two legged Fairs Cup Final.
Better was to follow the following season. An Arsenal side containing the likes of Charlie George, George Armstrong, Ray Kennedy and captain Frank McLintock, won the league and FA Cup ‘double’. They clinched the title at White Hart Lane, then beat Liverpool after extra time at Wembley to win the Cup. The side returned to Wembley for three consecutive FA Cup Finals under Terry Neill at the end of the decade — winning the second of them, 3-2 against Manchester United. The game became known as the ‘Five Minute Final’. The Gunners also reached the 1980 Cup Winners’ Cup Final, with a team that included Graham Rix, Frank Stapleton, Pat Rice, David O’Leary and Liam Brady, but lost on penalties to Valencia.
George Graham's HonoursIn 1986 George Graham, a member of the 1971 ‘double’ winning team, took over as manager from Don Howe and more glory days followed. He led Arsenal to their first ever League Cup triumph in 1986/87, beating Liverpool 2-1 in the Final. Two years later the Gunners won the League Championship, with a famous last minute goal from Michael Thomas clinching the title with a 2-0 win at Anfield. Another title followed in 1990/91, when the side, including the famous defensive back four, lost just one league game.
More silverware followed. In 1992/93 Arsenal became the first club to win both domestic cups in the same season. Sheffield Wednesday were the beaten side on both occasions. Graham’s era of success was rounded off the following season. A superb run in the European Cup Winners’ Cup ended with a memorable 1-0 win over Parma in the Final in Copenhagen, thanks to Alan Smith’s strike. Arsenal failed to retain the trophy the following season, losing in the 1995 final to Real Zaragoza. By this time George Graham had left the Club. He was succeeded by Bruce Rioch, who was in charge for one season, during which time he signed Dennis Bergkamp.
The Arsène Wenger EraIn 1997/98, Wenger’s first full season at Highbury, Arsenal achieved, for the second time in the Club’s history, the League and FA Cup ‘double’ enabling the Frenchman to pick up the Carling Manager of the Year Award. Dennis Bergkamp was also named Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Player of the Year and PFA Player of the Year. A tremendous season was rounded off perfectly for French Internationals Emmanuel Petit and Patrick Vieira as the Gunners stars played their part in France’s victorious World Cup campaign.
Three consecutive league runners-up medals followed and in 2000 Arsenal appeared in the UEFA Cup Final where they lost on penalties. In 2001 the Club reached the Quarter-Finals of the UEFA Champions League before being knocked out by Valencia. 2001/02 however saw a reversal of fortunes as the Club recorded their third ‘double’ by beating Chelsea in the FA Cup and ending their league campaign with a 13-game unbeaten run and a memorable 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford. Arsenal remained unbeaten at home for the whole season. For that, Arsène Wenger was named Barclaycard Manager of the Year while Robert Pires was named Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year.
The following season Arsenal narrowly missed out on retaining the title but the Gunners became the first English club in more than 20 years to retain the FA Cup with their 1-0 victory over Southampton at Cardiff. Thierry Henry was voted player of the season by both the PFA and the Football Writers’ Association in a term which saw him join Dennis Bergkamp in the hallowed 100 Club having scored a century of goals for Arsenal. Season 2003/2004 saw Arsenal win back the title in unbeatable fashion managing to go though the entire league season without a single defeat. Finishing 11 points ahead of second-place Chelsea, Arsenal smashed several records on the way to their 13th league title win. Spanish youngster Cesc Fabregas arrived in January and by the end of the season had broken the record for the youngest Arsenal appearance aged 16 years and 177 days.
A Semi-Final defeat in the FA Cup by Manchester United and the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League by Chelsea ended any hope of a remarkable treble. The unbeaten league run continued the following season and in August 2004 Arsenal overtook Nottingham Forest’s record for the longest all-time unbeaten sequence in English league football. The Gunners made it five trophies in four seasons by winning the FA Cup in a penalty shoot-out victory over Manchester United.
The 2005/06 campaign was the Club’s last at Highbury and the Final Salute celebrations proved to be a fitting goodbye to the Club’s home of 93 years. Fourth place in the league — and Champions League football — was secured on the last day of the season with a 4-2 win over Wigan Athletic (coupled with Tottenham’s loss at West Ham United). Arsenal’s alltime record at Highbury reads as follows: Played 2,010; Won 1,196; Drawn 475; Lost 339; Goals Scored 4,038; Goals Conceded 1,955.
The highlight of the season was the Club’s amazing journey to the 2005/06 Champions League Final in Paris. A 12- game unbeaten run, including a new competition record for the most amount of consecutive clean sheets (10 in all), saw Arsenal line-up against Barcelona in the Final on May 17 at the Stade de France. Despite having Jens Lehmann sent-off after just 18 minutes, the Gunners scored first through Sol Campbell before, in the second-half, the Spaniards scored two late goals to break the hearts of the travelling Arsenal support.
Into Emirates StadiumAs the Club prepared itself for the move to Emirates Stadium, Gunners captain and record goalscorer, Thierry Henry committed his future to Arsenal before going on to help France reach the World Cup Final in Germany in the summer of 2006. In July, 2006 the Club left Highbury, their stadium of 93 years, and moved to their new home. Ajax provided the opposition in Dennis Bergkamp’s Testimonial as the legendary striker played his last game for the Club in the first ever match at Emirates Stadium.

The Eagles are an American rock band formed in Los Angeles, California during the early 1970s. With five number-one singles and six number-one albums, the Eagles were one of the most successful recording artists of the decade. At the end of the 20th century, two of their albums, Eagles: Their Greatest Hits 1971–1975 and Hotel California, ranked among the ten best-selling albums according to the Recording Industry Association of America. The best-selling studio album Hotel California is rated as the thirty-seventh album in the Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 greatest albums of all time, and the band was ranked number 75 on the magazine's 2004 list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. About New York City from Wikipedia

The City of New York, most often called New York City, is the most populous city in the United States, in a metropolitan area that ranks among the world's most-populous urban areas. It is a leading global city, exerting a powerful influence over worldwide commerce, finance, culture, and entertainment. The city is also an important center for international affairs, hosting the United Nations headquarters.

Located on the Atlantic coast of the Northeastern United States, the city consists of five distinct boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. It is the most densely populated major city in the United States, with an estimated 8,274,527 people occupying just under 305 square miles (790 km2). The New York metropolitan area's population is also the nation's highest, estimated at 19,750,000 people over 6,720 square miles (17,400 km2) in three states.

New York is largely unique among American cities for its high use of mass transit, and the overall density and diversity of its population. In 2005, nearly 170 languages were spoken in the city and 36% of its population was born outside the United States. The city is sometimes referred to as "The City That Never Sleeps" due to its extensive 24-hour subway system and constant bustling of traffic and people, while other nicknames include Gotham and the Big Apple.

Founded as a commercial trading post by the Dutch in 1624, it served as the capital of the United States from 1785 until 1790, and has been the nation's largest city since 1790. The Statue of Liberty greeted millions of immigrants as they came to America in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Wall Street, in Lower Manhattan, has been a dominant global financial center since World War II and is home to the New York Stock Exchange. Today, the city has many renowned landmarks and neighborhoods that are world famous. The city has been home to several of the tallest buildings in the world, including the Empire State Building and the twin towers of the former World Trade Center.

New York is the birthplace of many cultural movements, including the Harlem Renaissance in literature and visual art, abstract expressionism (also known as the New York School) in painting, and hip hop, punk, salsa, disco and Tin Pan Alley in music. It is also the home of Broadway theater.

The train was too ditry and noisy, and Many black people were singing in the train. I've never seen that kinds of performance. Oh....shit I Got the wrong train.

lOl~~

When I was wandering the broaday I was able to see this... unexpectly.

We don't need to study English anymore..

It's time to enjoy^^

Cash For the Grade

The short article was treating the matter which was related with money can spur the students who are studying in New York.
And This is my notion about this matter

Should students get paid just to do the right thing??

When the human was originated, What was needed to form their society and culture? Were their cluture developed only by the war and expansion of territory? Nowadays, speech and knowledge are more powerful than gun and knife and it's true that country which has well developed culture is admired by many countries. So... what is needed to develop their characteristic culture? You can find the answer at the school which you are attending or already graduated. In the past, education was recognized just as the play to the rich. At that time, people in the low couldn't dream which is related with study and when they was born as a low class then they should live. And that was the custom of the period. But how about now? Look back upon my school days, almost my friends got nice education and that was thought as natural. So maybe we are neglecting education's importance. And this matter is not limited to just my experience. Maybe it is happening in educational institution all over the world. Some decades ago, there was a few educational institution so student was satisfied with just attendance. But the present students has changed. All of everything is quite natural to them. So according to this article, New York city is planning to give an impulse to students and adults by giving money. Anyway I agree with this matter. At my high school days, one of my best friends, not very smart, studied pretty much. His aim was just only one...it was a scholarship. And the reason was so simple. Unexpected poverty.... Poverty provide my friend with his moral obligations and he just pursued it desperately. And like that, he could graduate the high school peacefully with scholarship for 3 years. Even I'v studied a lot because of the scholarship. Anyway, from this example, we can guess how this plan which is prompted by New York City will have influence on the low-income brackets's student. Naturally, this is just my opinion, no one have tried this plan in New York City before. If we run into a blind alley then we can return . There is no one who will get loss. somehow student will receive the money. In any case, I think Students who are studying very hard will study hard continuously without any thought about the money. So if we focus our attention on the students who want to get benefit, then maybe we will get positive outcome.

My notion about turbun

Yesterday I read a very short article about turbun.
and also this is very short journal about that article.

I've never seriously thought about India, Sikh and their way of life etc. before read this article.Even I've never tried to connect korea with this. So how dare I say about this matter with just this information. Thus briefly I'm trying to compare their present and Korea's past. About 100years ago, Korea, at that time "Chosun", had a culture which have to preserve their hair. According to the confucianism, because their body was inherited by their parents, it was prohibited to injure their body or cut their hair thoughtlessly. herefore, Korean had to make their traditional hair style which called "sangtoo" just like present Sikh. Because of the effectuation of the revised enforcement regulations in 1895, at that time regulation was so epochal that the citizens couldn't accept that easily, they should cut their hair. That was not option, but duty, so some of people who thought that their hair is the same with their parents raised the riot against the regime. But it proceeded drastically by government because having a long hair causes many problems related with health. So I think, changing of culture is related with other countries influence, the current of the globalization or defects of their culture. Sikh's situation is almost the same with Korea's past. And the present is information oriented society. because of this, it's more difficult to prevent cultural infiltration. Already many youngsters are recognizing western culture through the internet and media recklessly and they are applying it to their way of life unconsciously. So it's just taking a good point of another countries culture, it's not too much, not too less. It means culture can't made by anothers coercion, but just shows their present thought which they think right now. Now world is changing more freer and more democratic. This means they should keep their traditional culture, and should throw unefficient habit. Finally, this will contribute to country's development and enhancement of their culture. it's not just limited to the turbun which is just showing. So culture can be showed in their clothes and custom, but I think real culture is in their mind and it should not be forced by someone.

In The united states

I was in New York City for a couple of
days. Maybe this city is the most energetic
that I've ever been.

To describe oneself to another is very important, because people who describe themselves can be shown to many people who have different thinking. They have no idea about people who meet each other for the first time, because it’s the first time, so if someone expresses just his or her good points, then people who are meeting them will be known just one aspect of them. And sometimes when people have to show ourselves for reasons, they seem to exaggerate their career and merits. That is the reason why people who want to express themselves to another should tell the truth. For this reasons I would like to describe myself very sincerely. My name is Jin Ho Lee, but most of my friends who were in Canada called me just Jin. I think it’s very easy to pronounce for foreigners. I was born in Seoul in 1983, but our family had to move to another city called Mokpo which is located in Jeonnam province very far from the Seoul at my age 8. In Mokpo I lived there for about 12 years because I had to finish my compulsory education. I spent most of my time in Mokpo and most of my friends are in this city. And as many people know Mokpo is small city, so it’s difficult to get out of this city to go to another good university which is in big city. And so it was to me. Anyway I’m attending Kyung Hee University fortunately. Now it’s a time to introduce my character. I’m a man of reason, and I’m so sensitive that sometimes a small problem can make me depressed. Nowadays I’m thinking about my future and marriage. Maybe it’s the main problems that I’m undergoing in recent years.

Sensitivity means that is very sensible, so the people who are very sensitive can be easily harmed by words which is containing nothing to the others. For example if someone says some jokes then sensitive person cannot accept it. They just take a word in its literal sense. Not only they will be harmed with it but also it can make people who are joking embarrassed. I don’t know whether it’s right or no. But I think I have to change this character a little bit because I don’t want make the other people confused, and it can be related with my future and marriage.

Future and marriage is one of the main topics of people who are in their late twenties. I’m also in late twenties. Most of Korean men who are not disabled should go to the Army, and it takes their 24 months. I also spent my time in the Army, and it was the heaviest time that I’ve ever experienced. Maybe it won’t be changed. After finish this two years, most of Korean including me start to think about there future and marriage because men are later than women who don’t have any obligation to go to the Army, and unfortunately I spent one more year than the others because I tried to go to better university. After finish our university course most of Korean men will reach their late twenties, and there’s no more time to spend to try daring attempt at great risk. This time is not just ours. We have responsible for our wife, children and parents. For these reason people are in their late twenties need to be stabled.

As has been demonstrated above, a little sensible character but not too much and future and marriage are the main thoughts what I’m thinking most importantly nowadays, because it can be related with other people. We live as a member of society, so what we do for us can have influence on the whole society, and that’s why these two things were chosen to me recently. I wish everything what is happening to me around will be good.
